Uncle Nearest Whiskey recently partnered with Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams to introduce the return of the Boozy Eggnog, a limited-edition, holiday-inspired flavor available in Jeni’s scoop shops and online.
A statement from Jeni’s notes that the boozy flavor was launched more than a decade ago, and the eggnog is made in the Midwestern style.
The drink is inspired by founder Jeni Britton’s grandfather, she explained, who always spiked his eggnog with whiskey. This year’s version of the Boozy Eggnog flavor is also steeped in history and tradition as it’s made in partnership with the female-led Uncle Nearest.
The whiskey brand was created to honor Nearest Green, the first known African American master distiller.
The Boozy Eggnog uses the brand’s 1884 Small Batch Whiskey, blended by Nearest Green descendant and Uncle Nearest Master Blender Victoria Eady Butler.
The eggnog flavor is made using grass-grazed milk for a salted egg custard base spiked with nutmeg and Uncle Nearest Whiskey. It features complex vanilla with notes of caramel for a sweet finish.
Previously, Jeni’s brand has collaborated with Dolly Parton and Tyler The Creator, along with national brands such as Intelligentsia coffee and now Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams was founded in Columbus, Ohio in 2002 by James Beard Award-winning ice cream maker Jeni Britton. She’s in charge of all creative output and the brand is a Certified B Corporation known for its social, environmental and business leadership with more than 60 scoop shops, an online shop and distribution in top grocery stores across the country.
