Scotland’s Smokehead Whisky recently partnered with glassblower Elliot Walker on a completely original drinking vessel.
Walker, the winner of Season 2 of the Netflix show Blown Away, collaborated with Smokehead to challenge the conventional notion of drinking, in the process creating an all-original whisky glass.
A statement from Smokehead notes that this special glass will be available to purchase in limited numbers starting in September, and there’s a chance to win a glass in a competition this October.
Elliot Walker is known across the UK for his experimental glassblowing and technical skills. After a prototype selection process this summer, one of his designs will be chosen by Smokehead’s audience through the brand’s social media channels.
Smokehead’s Mikey Sim said, “Our partnership with Elliot Walker has been truly exciting, and will allow us to bring another element of Smokehead to whisky aficionados worldwide. Getting to know Elliot’s creative process has shown how aligned we are in our brilliantly rebellious attitudes, daring to be different and breaking through the molds of convention.”
Walker said of Smokehead, “It’s a brand who is leading the charge on innovation within the whisky category and is unafraid of breaking boundaries, just like I am with my sculptures. I’m a huge fan of Smokehead and so it’s an exciting challenge to create a bespoke item that matches the brand’s rebellious and innovative nature. Not only should it make a bold statement, but it needs to be functional and enhance the drinking experience.”
A limited number of Smokehead’s exclusive glasses will be available to purchase from their website, www.smokehead.com, starting in September.
