Indiana’s Ross & Squibb Distillery has added another member to their Rossville Union Straight Rye Whiskey brand family, the Rossville Union Bottled in Bond Straight Rye.
The limited release, six-year-old rye whiskey was hand-selected by Ross & Squibb Distillery Master Distiller Ian Stirsman.
A statement from Ross & Squibb explained that this rye whiskey expression will see a total of 3,000, 6-in cases released, and they’ll be available at select retailers for a suggested price of $49.99 per 700ml bottle.
The rye whiskey itself was aged six years, and clocks in at 100 proof. It features a mash bill of 51% rye and 49% barley malt. The whiskey for this release was distilled in March of 2017.
“I’m proud to continue Ross & Squibb’s tradition of creating high-quality rye whiskey that dates back to 1847,” Stirsman said. “Since that time, we have worked to perfect our craft, giving our rye whiskeys unmatched character.”
For the Rossville Union Bottled in Bond Straight Rye Whiskey, Stirsman said they combined their rye expertise with a new high-malt mash bill to create something special.
“We then let the barrels mature for a minimum of six years, resulting in aromas of sweet malt, dark chocolate, raisin and saddle leather with tasting notes highlighted by caramel and mocha with a rich, candied-fruit body, followed by a slight green-apple, malted-chocolate and cinnamon finish,” he added.
Luxco, owner of Ross & Squibb, was founded in St. Louis in 1958 by the Lux Family. They merged with MGP Ingredients in 2021, and have a portfolio of brands that include Ross & Squibb, Bardstown, Lux Row Distillers, Ezra Brooks, Rebel, Blood Oath, David Nicholson and Daviess County.
