The upcoming Fox musical drama Monarch is set to get its own whiskey, with pre-orders for the bourbon beginning now.
The new Truthteller 1839 Straight Bourbon Whiskey, as first mentioned by Variety, is being released to coincide with the debut of the highly anticipated television show starring Susan Sarandon and Trace Adkins, among others. According to the trade publication it has been produced for Fox Entertainment by Next Century Spirits.
The whiskey itself, according to information posted at online liquor retailer ReserveBar, is “aged twice in charred, new American oak barrels. It is said it “has depth and richness of flavor. Notes of sweet and smoke take the stage and a smooth, long finish is a fitting encore.”
The backstory of Truthteller, again according to ReserveBar, goes something like this: “At Truthteller, we dedicate our craft to anyone whose conviction is undeniable. As the official bourbon whiskey of FOX’s musical drama, Monarch, Truthteller 1839 was born from the spirit of the “Texas Truthteller” himself, Albie Roman. It’s crafted for those who share this spirit. The wild ones. The brash ones. The wise ones. And anyone with a truth to tell.
“We are bound by this one singular philosophy — to cater to those who have the courage to do what’s right, follow their dreams, hold onto their hopes, and share their stories. The poets, the singer-songwriters, and all those who know the things that are hardest to say shouldn’t stay bottled up, but rather revealed, true and straight. Truthteller 1839. What’s your truth?”
Truthteller 1839 Straight Bourbon Whiskey is pricing at $55 and available exclusively through ReserveBar. Official tasting notes from the retailer are below.
- Nose: Freshly baked gingerbread, with notes of pear, honeydew melon, green apple, and honey.
- Palate: Caramel apple, waffle cone, cinnamon sugar, and just a hint of rye spice and pink peppercorn.
- Finish: Toasted almond and lightly toasted American oak, a whiff or rolled cigar, leather, and campfire smoke on the tail end.
